“I joined the Women’s Fund Power of the Purse Committee a few years ago when I began my professional career after college. Most recently, I became Co-Chair of the Silent Auction Committee which oversees the collection of purse donations that are bid on during the annual Power of the Purse Event.
I consider myself to be a strong, independent woman but as a member of the Certified Public Accountant community, it can be hard to advance in an industry that often does not offer flexibility. This is reflected in the small percentages of partners who are women at various public accounting firms. I have always been a strong advocate for progressive social change, especially in the workplace for women who want to raise a family and have a career. As a result, the Women’s Fund mission to inspire girls and empower women holds a special place in my heart to work toward that social change, especially as I welcome my own baby girl into the world this summer.”
