I first became aware of the impact made by the Women’s Fund while working at a nonprofit organization here in northeast Wisconsin. During my time there, we were fortunate enough to have received multiple Women’s Fund grants that allowed us to plan and deliver evidence-based programming that significantly supported the leadership and self-esteem development of women and girls in our community.
Now, in my role at the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation, I have an increased level of interaction with Women’s Fund donors, volunteers, and grantees who have shared an endless number of stories about what the Women’s Fund means to them.
Continually having the opportunity to hear these thoughtful stories inspired me to give some thought to what the Women’s Fund means: The Women’s Fund provides opportunities. For donors, it provides an opportunity to contribute to initiatives that support the development of women and girls in northeast Wisconsin. For volunteers, it provides an opportunity to give back and to be a part of a network that supports, strengthens and elevates each member. For grantees, it provides an opportunity to develop and deliver programming that changes lives. For me, it provides an opportunity to see women, and the other faces of the Women’s Fund, at work positively impacting our community in very thoughtful and intentional ways.
